New Year Blog Post #1

So the New Year is finally here! Many of us make New Year's resolutions year after year, only to run out of steam and break them by the time Valentine's Day arrives. We tend to set unrealistic goals and find it too hard and cumbersome to stick with them and then we rationalize and make excuses and eventually convince ourselves that we didn't really need to change anything after all. Does that sound remotely familiar?

If one of your New Year's resolutions is to trim down and feel better, then GOOD FOR YOU! This is the resolution you should keep even if you abandon all the rest! This is the one that is so worth pursuing and will come with great rewards. It is an important step in your life and this is the one that you definitely don't want to rationalize yourself out of. At first it may sound like such a good idea; you will eat better, exercise more, and by the beginning of the summer you will look great in those new pair of shorts which never made it out of the closet last summer. Maybe you can even get back into your old bikini? You may find yourself full of enthusiasm and determination until you come to the realization that you are not quite sure where to even start and it is harder than you ever expected and much more hassle than it's worth. That's when the excuses and rationalizing starts.

You may find yourself re-thinking this whole brilliant idea: Well... I'm so busy and tired this week; I'll just start next week; Uncle Joe is coming to stay and this will just have to wait; We're going for a trip and I just can't start until we get back; Football season is here and with all the snack foods and get-togethers, it doesn't make sense to get started now! And then comes the rationalizing: Well, I haven't lost any weight and I needed new pants anyway - might as well get a bigger size...and you know the rest!

OK, so here is the scoop - STOP MAKING EXCUSES AND JUST DO IT! Stick with me and I will help you achieve your goals. Over the next few months keep your eye out for new blogs with helpful info on: "How, What, Where, When and How Much" of the lifestyle changes you need to make to get where you want to be and once and for all feel good about your choices. To quote author Gina Greenlee: "We can talk about it, dream about it and dissect the fine print. In the end, only action satisfies our longing.”
